Tour Plan

Day 1 Zanzibar to Tarangire National Park

Early Morning

Departure from Zanzibar:
- 5:00 AM: You will be picked up from your Zanzibar hotel and transferred to the Zanzibar airport for a flight to Arusha. The flight typically takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes.
- 7:00 AM: Arrive at Arusha Airport, where your safari guide will meet you and drive you to Tarangire National Park (approximately 2 hours).

Mid-Morning to Afternoon

Tarangire National Park Safari:
- 9:30 AM: Arrive at Tarangire, renowned for its large elephant herds and iconic baobab trees. This park is also home to lions, leopards, cheetahs, buffalo, giraffes, and various species of birds.
- Morning Game Drive: Explore the park with your guide. Tarangire offers excellent game-viewing, especially near the Tarangire River, which attracts wildlife, especially during the dry season. The park is known for having one of the highest concentrations of elephants in Africa.
Lunch:
- You can enjoy a packed lunch within the park at one of the designated picnic areas, or if you are staying at a lodge in or near the park, lunch will be served there.

Afternoon

Afternoon Game Drive:
- After lunch, you will continue your game drive, looking for more wildlife and perhaps catching sight of predators like lions and leopards in the late afternoon.
- 4:00 PM: Depart Tarangire and head to your accommodation (a lodge or tented camp nearby).

Evening

Arrival at Lodge or Camp:
- 5:30 PM: Arrive at your lodge or camp for check-in and relaxation.
- Dinner: Enjoy a delicious dinner at your accommodation, often featuring local Tanzanian cuisine.

Day 2 Ngorongoro Crater Safari and Return to Zanzibar

Early Morning

Depart for Ngorongoro Crater:
- 6:00 AM: After an early breakfast, depart for Ngorongoro Crater (approximately 3 hours' drive from Tarangire). The Ngorongoro Crater is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most famous game-viewing areas in the world.

Late Morning to Afternoon

Ngorongoro Crater Safari:
- 9:30 AM: Arrive at the Ngorongoro Crater rim. The crater is home to a diverse range of wildlife, including the "Big Five" (elephant, lion, buffalo, leopard, and rhinoceros). It is also a great place to spot herds of wildebeest, zebra, gazelle, and other species.
- Descend into the Crater: After entering the crater floor, you will embark on a game drive. The area is known for its high concentration of animals, and it is possible to see lions, hyenas, and even the endangered black rhinoceros.
- Packed Lunch: Enjoy a picnic lunch at a designated spot within the crater or a lodge within the park.

Afternoon

Continued Game Drive in Ngorongoro:
- Spend a few more hours exploring the crater, enjoying the incredible wildlife and stunning landscapes.

Late Afternoon

Return to Arusha:
- 2:30 PM: After the game drive, you will begin your drive back to Arusha (approximately 3 hours).

Evening

Flight Back to Zanzibar:
- 5:30 PM: Arrive in Arusha and transfer to Arusha Airport.
- 7:00 PM: Flight departs from Arusha back to Zanzibar (1 hour and 15 minutes).
- 8:30 PM: Arrive in Zanzibar and transfer to your hotel.
